Rocky & Bullwinkle Sell Sugar Lumps

 

Here are some stills from some bumpers for General Mills from Rocky and His Friends.

These sponsor bumpers are really interesting to me. Other cartoons had these - Huckleberry Hound with Kellogg's, The Bugs Bunny Show with Post cereal, The Flintstones with Winston Cigarettes and so on.

I remember this one being on the 1001 Classic Commercials DVD set.

You will obey Bullwinkle. You will buy Cheerios.

Funny how these commercials have more animation than the actual show.

I'm not sure if George of the Jungle had any sponsors, but it would've been cool to see George sell some Coco Puffs.

It wasn't just television that Rocky and Bullwinkle would tell you to eat teeth-rotting sugar flakes for breakfast, they advertised the Big G in comic books!

Studying Boopie

 Last night I challenged myself by redrawing this picture of Boopie.

I broke her down like this to understand the proportions and line of action.

These are the results:

I did pretty good on the first one, although some parts of her are off like the hair being a little big and her pose is slightly watered down.

The other two are decent. The one on the left is the most accurate in my opinion.

I might do more of these, and I'll post them when I do.

Some Flintstone Toys

These are some images of Flintstone toys. To start this off, here's this cross eyed Fred.

I used to have this bank except it was ceramic and Fred had little derpy eyes. I can never find another one like it :(

Bucket Lad

This is a cartoon I discovered on the frontpage of Newgrounds, I believe it got frontpaged several weeks ago. This is about Bucket Lad forgetting to take out the trash or something. It's got some nice art I wanna showcase today. Here they are:

I really love Bucket Lad. He's just a random superhero with a bucket on his head.

I like when cartoons use live action footage for gags. I did this once in a Clownfish Dude short.
